Three persons rescued in two incidents

PERNEM: In two different incidents, Pernem Fire Station personnel rescued three persons trapped in cabin of trucks, on Saturday.

The first incident occurred at around 1.15 pm at Malpe, when the rear tyre of a tipper truck laden with concrete material suddenly burst. The driver lost control of the vehicle and dashed against the divider. The impact was such that the rear wheels got separated.

The truck was proceeding towards Panjim from Sawantwadi. Driver Baban Bhalekar and cleaner Dinesh Kesarkar, who got trapped in the truck cabin, were rescued by a team of Pernem Fire Station by cutting open the cabin door using hydraulic tools. Both sustained minor injuries.

In another incident that occurred around 1.45 pm, a truck transporting medicines of a pharmaceutical Company was proceeding towards Mumbai from Goa. However, near Government College, Virnoda, the truck driver lost control over the vehicle and dashed against the divider and fell on its side. Driver Shivkumar Gupta, who was trapped inside the cabin, was rescued by team of Pernem Fire Station personnel by breaking open the front glass of the truck.

Both the incidents occurred within a span of half an hour.
