Three Sancoale panchas seeks adjournment of June 7 meet

Claim the agenda given to them was incomplete; allege that the p’yat secy intentionally did not mention details of NOC issued for construction licence

VASCO: Three panchayat members of Sancoale Village Panchayat have written to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant requesting him to issue direction to the Sancoale panchayat secretary to adjourn and re-schedule the meeting convened on Friday, June 7, to future date with an advance notice of seven days.

They have claimed that the agenda given to them was incomplete. The panchayat members namely Tulshidas Naik, Maurilio Carvalho and Nidhi Naik have claimed that the panchayat secretary intentionally did not mention details of NOC issued for construction licence.

“Also the amount on bill payments or the value have not been mentioned on the agenda of the meeting to be held on June 7. This gives scope for misappropriation of funds and fraud by the Sancoale panchayat secretary Orville Clinton Vales with the blessing of ruling panel, the Sarpanch and Deputy Sarpanch for their vested interest to commit fraud and forgery on illegal bills, construction licence and occupancy,” the three panchayat members have charged.

“It also proves that Sancoale Village Panchayat is not following the proper procedures that are prescribed in Goa Panchayat (Meeting) Rules 1996 and under Section 113-A of the Goa Panchayat Raj Act, 1994 and till date the same procedure has been adopted by the Sancoale panchayat secretary, in spite of the Directorate of Panchayats and the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Mormugao directives,” they said.

The letter has been addressed to the Directorate of Panchayats and the Mormugao BDO, demanding to adjourn and reschedule the fortnightly meeting.
