Three Seizures in Goa Unearth Massive Liquor Smuggling Operations

The Excise Department officials in Goa have successfully intercepted and seized three significant consignments of illicit liquor across different locations in the state. These operations mark a major crackdown on illegal liquor smuggling activities, demonstrating the department’s relentless efforts in maintaining law and order ahead of the Lok Sabha 2024 elections.

Patradevi Check Post Bust: At the Patradevi check post, Excise officials intercepted a large consignment of liquor worth a staggering 42.6 lakhs. The seizure was accompanied by the apprehension of the vehicle involved in the smuggling operation. Furthermore, the driver of the vehicle was arrested. 

Raid at Dandevado-Chinchinim Unveils Unauthorised Liquor Storage: In another operation conducted at Dandevado-Chinchinim in Salcete Taluka, the Excise Department raided an unauthorised premise suspected of storing liquor illegally. The raid resulted in the confiscation of a whopping 4028.71 litres of liquor, valuing approximately Rs 12.9 lakhs. 

Ponda Excise Department’s Curti Truck Raid: The Excise Department’s vigilant efforts extended to Ponda, where a parked truck at Curti came under scrutiny. Upon inspection, authorities uncovered a substantial quantity of illicit liquor amounting to 3742 liters, with an estimated value of Rs 17.16 lakhs. This operation exemplifies the department’s proactive stance in targeting clandestine liquor transportation networks.

These successive seizures highlight the collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies to tackle the menace of illegal liquor trafficking in Goa ahead of the Lok Sabha 2024 elections.
