PANJIM: Four labourers were injured after a quarrel where the accused stabbed the victims leaving one still undergoing treatment at the Goa Medical College (GMC).
The accused Tarkeshwar Singh from Bihar, a new labourer at the construction site of the new Dental College in Bambolim was brought in as a cement pump operator. At 10.30 pm on Saturday, Singh under the influence of alcohol had a slight altercation with fellow labourer Hiraman Prasad.
Singh brought a knife and stabbed Hiraman in the chest. Fellow labourers Mantu Prasad, Prabhu Prasad and Shambu Pandey who had gone to rescue Hiraman also received stab wounds. All the injured are natives of Uttar Pradesh.
Agacaim police have registered a complaint by Mantu Prasad registering an offence under sections 307, 326, 324, 323 IPC and have arrested the accused who ran away after the incident and was later found hiding in the bushes behind the construction site.
Hiraman had undergone surgery and is currently receiving treatment in GMC while the other victims were discharged.
