Three water tanks to be demolished

VASCO: Three overhead water tanks at Dabolim would be decommissioned and demolished soon. The residents of Dabolim have been complaining that they risks living near the dilapidated water tanks.
The work of demolition began on Saturday. Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho, who inspected the tanks, said that the tanks are in danger of collapsing: strong rains or winds may topple them.
“We are demolishing the 300 and 50 cubic meter tanks as they can’t be used any more. We are going to have a 600 cubic meter new ground level tank for enhanced water supply. Another ground tank will be repaired,” Mauvin said.
Meanwhile, Mauvin said that the new Hospital would be inaugurated in the next two months, as the staffers and equipment are yet to be recruited and purchased. “I have insisted on recruiting people from our taluka to work in the hospital and have conveyed this to the Health Minister,” Mauvin said.
