MARGAO: Principal Sessions Judge B P Deshpande on Wednesday sentenced two persons to three years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 in default of which further imprisonment for one month for causing the death of a person on March 18, 2017.
The case of the prosecution was that on March 18, 2017 the victim 35-year-old Anil Malik had come to their shop and had a drink following which he asked for more drinks. The two accused, namely, 23-year-old John Fernandes and Iliyazar Tito had an argument with Anil following which Anil left.
Then John and Iliyazar apparently followed Anil and assaulted him severely due to which he died and his family members found the body when they went searching for him as he did not return home that night.
The prosecution examined 12 witnesses and Public Prosecutor Ladislau Fernandes represented the State. Both were sentenced to undergo imprisonment for three years and pay a fine of Rs. 10,000 in default of which to remain in prison for another one month.
