Three-year-old girl found wandering Margao’s Gandhi Market alone

Yet to be identified, the child was lodged at Apna Ghar

MARGAO: A three-year-old girl was discovered wandering alone in Gandhi Market, Margao, on Saturday, prompting Margao police to respond to the situation. When approached by concerned individuals, the child was unable to provide any details about herself.

According to Margao police, some customers and shopkeepers in Gandhi Market noticed the girl and took her to a safe place, attempting to question her. However, the child was unable to provide any information about her identity or guardians.

Upon receiving a call, Margao police rushed to the location and took custody of the child. Despite inquiries, no one has come forward to claim the girl.

Margao police initiated further investigations into the matter and said they are likely to send the child to a care facility. As of now, no missing complaint has been filed concerning the girl, but the police have been trying to identify her and locate her guardians.

“We waited at Gandhi Market since morning to try and identify the girl; however, so far, no one has come forward to claim her,” mentioned a police officer from Margao police station. The child has been provided with food and clothes and sent to Apna Ghar, Merces, he added later. During questioning, the girl remained silent, but seemed to be in good health. “But she did not respond to any of our wuestions,” said a police officer.
