MARGAO: Famous tiatrist Francis de Tuem on Wednesday called upon the artistes, who lost their jobs during the COVID pandemic, not to beg for State government’s one-time compensation of Rs 10,000.
Francis’ remarks come after dramatist Rajdeep Naik’s criticised the government for declaring meagre help for the artistes in a video uploaded on a video sharing and social media platform. Soon Rajdeep’s car was damaged on the intervening Saturday-Sunday night at Savoi Verem which became a topic of political discussion.
Currently, the scheme announced by the Arts and Culture Department has been opposed by actors.
Coming out in support of Naik, Francis in a video stated that professional artistes in Goa have been unemployed for the past year-and-a-half. It is government’s moral responsibility to support them.
