DABOLIM: Noted Tiatrist Francis De Tuem was arrested by Verna Police on Friday after Nuvem MLA Mickky Pacheco accused him of defaming him on Thursday and also for demanding Rs 50 lakh from him.
According to Verna Police, Pacheco had filed a police complaint on Friday morning stating that Francis De Tuem had called him on his mobile phone on Thursday afternoon and had demanded Rs 50 lakh, failing which he would defame Pacheco.
In his complaint, Pacheco also stated that Francis De Tuvem, during a tiatr at Ravindra Bhavan on Thursday evening, had addressed the audience and had stated that Pacheco’s children did not belong to him (Pacheco).
Acting on the complaint, Verna Police arrested Francis De Tuem on Friday evening under Sections 384 and 500 of IPC.
PSI Hiru Kavlekar is further investigating the case.
