PANJIM: Tiatr Mogi Goy (TMG), an organisation of directors of Kala Academy Tiatr Competition, has threatened to approach the Lokayukta and the court against the malpractices of Kala Academy (KA) in A and B group competitions.
Tiatr Director, Tomazinho Cardozo informed that despite being a govt organisation, individuals in KA, who have been entrusted with the responsibility to organise the A and B group tiatr competitions have been involved in malpractices and favouritism.
Teotonio D’Costa, member of TMG informed that several malpractices came to the fore after the Tiatr Competition 2018. “The tiatr ‘I Love You’, which was awarded the first place in the A Group and was declared to be written by Mathias Mascarenhas was in fact a translation of Gujarati play. We have no problem, but it should have been declared to be so. And as per the application form, he has declared it to be his original piece of writing and exclusively for the competition”, he stated.
Seeking intervention from the Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude, TMG has demanded that Mathias be stripped of all the awards conferred to him during the Tiatr Competition 2018 and that he is banned from participating in the competition for at least three years.
Tomazinho added that similarly an individual who was entrusted with the responsibility to organise the competitions, allegedly directed five tiatrs and ensured that three of the five tiatrs received several awards during the competition in B group in 2018. “After we complained, the minister suspended the officer”, he added.
Teotonio informed that the jury too was selected to ensure that they could be manipulated. “Manipulation to the extent that in the judging sheet one of the persons from within perhaps inserted the score and gave 14 points out 10 points in a particular category of marking. This is blatant misuse and exposes KA’s malpractices”, he stated.
