MAPUSA: The panchayat election results of Bastora and Penha de Franca have revealed that the respective MLAs cemented their hold over the villages, while it was a fractured verdict at Anjuna Caisua.
In Bastora, the panel backed by Aldona MLA Glen Ticlo swept the elections.
In Penha de France, eight members of the panel back by Minister Rohan Khaute emerged victorious, while three wards were won by members supported by the BJP. Sandesh Mandrekar became the giant killer when he defeated Sarpanch Vishranti Desai in Ward 10. However, the BJP supported panchas have decided to support the panel floated by Rohan Khaunte.
Meanwhile, in Anjuna-Caisua, the results gave a fractured mandate: neither the panel supported by former minister Dayanand Mandrekar nor the one floated by Minister Vinod Palyekar managed to secure majority in the village. The village elected some Independents too. Since no one has a majority in Anjuna, the village is likely to witness an intense power struggle.
