‘Tiger Reserve and Mhadei issue should not be mixed’

PORVORIM: The issue of having a Tiger Reserve in the State and Mhadei river diversion should not be mixed together, Water Resource Development (WRD) Minister, Subhash  Shirodkar said here on Wednesday.

“Government has taken a policy decision with regards to the Tiger corridor in the State. As far as the Mhadei river water issue is concerned, we are strong enough to defend our stand in the court,” he said during the ongoing Monsoon Session of the State Assembly.

He further said that the government has successfully constituted the PRAWAH committee.

“This is our achievement at the administrative level. Now anyone can ask for an inspection. Now MLAs or NGOs can put forth their demands before the PRAWAH Committee,” he said.

On the judicial level, he said the government has succeeded in getting the matter listed before the Supreme Court for November 28 this year.
