PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday said `Tika Utsav’ (vaccination programme) will be celebrated across the State from April 11 to 14, so as to boost COVID-19 testing and vaccination programme.
“A four-day `Tika Utsav’ will be celebrated in Goa between birth anniversaries of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule (April 11) and Babasaheb Ambedkar (April 14),” Sawant told reporters after attending a meeting of all States’ Chief Ministers with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to review COVID-19 situation, via video conferencing.
Sawant said `Tika Utsav’ will be celebrated in village panchayats having community halls and appealed to all those 45 years of age and above to participate in the programme and get vaccinated.
Sawant said the Prime Minister interacted with all the Chief Ministers and got feedback from them about COVID-19 situation and ongoing vaccination drive in their respective States.
According to Sawant, the Prime Minister focused on testing, tracking and vaccination to control the spread of coronavirus.
Expressing his concern over the spike in COVID cases, he said the police and District Magistrates have been asked to start awareness drive in the State on a large scale and appealed to all to wear face masks and maintain social distancing.
