PONDA: With no pre-monsoon showers in sight to provide relief from the scorching summer heat, the common man is desperately looking up at the heavens to open up and bring down the mercury.
People are desperately praying for rains to cool down the temperatures. The sultry weather conditions have been the talking point for people. According to them, pre-monsoon shower is the only remedy against this heat. The demand for lemon juice, coconut water, soft drinks and butter milk etc has increased many folds, but these are proving to be inadequate against heat.
“There are various artificial measures to beat heat, including air conditioners, water coolers etc, but finally one has to deal with the heat after a certain time, especially outdoors. All artificial measures provide only temporary relief,” said Umesh Naik, a labourer, adding that rain is the only answer.
