Tivim MLA praises govt for rescue operations

MAPUSA: Chief Minister, Pramod Sawant disbursed cheques and sanctioned letters to the flood affected victims of Camurlim, Nadora, Revora and Colvale on Tuesday.
He also assured to compensate the farmers due to the losses caused to their fields.
He pointed out to the affected farmers that the damage and loss incurred due to the floods was much less as compared to other areas such as Sangli, Maharashtra and Kolhapur.  At the same time he thanked the Collector, Deputy Collector, Mamlatdar and other officials who helped in carrying out the rescue operation during the flooding the occurred three weeks ago.
“We have not done any discrimination while helping the people and there was no politics involved while disbursing the amounts to the flood affected victims,” he said.
The CM also urged the municipalities and panchayats to work towards making their villages and town open defecation free.
“I have appealed with every sarpanch and councillor to certify their wards which can be identified as free from open defecation. If we want to make the State free from open defecation, we need the support of all the stakeholders to achieve the same,” said Sawant, while speaking at the Colvale panchayat on Tuesday.  
While speaking to the gathering, Tivim MLA Nilkant Harlankar said the government was successful in handling the rescue operations.
“Our CM gave proper attention and rendered full support to the flood affected victims,” said Harlankar.      
 Also present for the function was Revenue Minister, Jenifer Monserrate and other officials.
