Tivim murder accused remanded in seven days police custody

Initially, a case of unnatural death was registered by the Colvale police and an investigation was taken up.

MAPUSA: Manjuppa, alias Manju Nhajantri,  the alleged accused who was arrested by the Colvale police for murdering 35-year-old Yallama Bekinkal from Karnataka was on Tuesday remanded to seven days police custody by the Judicial Magistrate First Class Court at Mapusa.

It may be recalled that on November 4, the police had found a body of a woman in a well with a stone tied around her waist in Tivim.

Initially, a case of unnatural death was registered by the Colvale police and an investigation was taken up. The cops then conducted a massive operation for tracing the identity of the body and teams were then formed and sent to the neighbouring states of Maharashtra and Karnataka.

Later the police managed to trace the identity of the deceased through her sister and further investigated the case and traced the accused. Police informed that the accused and the deceased were in love and would constantly keep in touch with each other over the phone.
