PONDA: Heated discussions prevailed at Tivrem Orgao Village Panchayat gram sabha wherein the locals demanded action against the builder for an encroachment in a nullah.
The issue of encroachment by one builder at Chimulwada, Marcel dominated the gram sabha for two hours, which was chaired by Sarpanch Unnati Naik.
The locals pointed out that one builder has constructed his compound wall in the nullah and demanded the panchayat should take action against the builder at the earliest.
Despite being local, Secretary Razat Narvekar expressed his inability to conduct gram sabha proceedings in Marathi over the issue, which irked the locals. There was heated discussion between the locals and Secretary over the language issue.
Further, the Secretary informed the villagers that the builder has given an affidavit and that he would conduct a survey of his property located near the nullah.
“If in case, it is found that the builder has encroached in the nullah then he would take action to clear the compound wall from the nullah,” he added.
The villagers asked the Secretary to produce the affidavit. However, he failed to show it to the villagers.
As the gram sabha members stressed on to continue only one issue, the Sarpanch and Secretary tried to leave the sabha. However, the irked Villagers even tried to confine the panchas inside the meeting hall, following which the police rushed at the spot and controlled the situation.
