PONDA: Refuting allegations by BJP-backed panchas who had recently switched over to MGP to promote development work at Tiverem-Orgao Panchayat, former sarpanch and sitting Panch Pratap Volvoikar claimed the development had taken place even while they were part of the BJP.
BJP-supported Panch Volvoikar, who was the sarpanch for almost a year, had resigned recently to pave way for the MGP-backed candidate, Francis Lobo. Tiverem-Orgao Panchayat is in Priol constituency, which is represented by MGP MLA Deepak Dhavlikar.
Speaking to Herald after inaugurating the pathway at Tariwada-Marcela, Volvoikar claimed that a Rs 18 crore project of the Marcela bus stand was cleared while he was sarpanch.
“The project consists of market, library, fish market and multi-purpose hall, apart from up-gradation of KTC bus stand. Even the files pertaining to sewerage treatment plant and electricity sub-station were processed during my tenure,” he added.
