TMC protests against rising unemployment

Goa’s unemployment rate was double that of the national average rate, they said.

PANJIM: Goa Trinamool Congress Party (TMC) on Monday staged a protest demanding the BJP-led government immediately fill the pending vacancies in various departments and if they are incapable of doing so, they must announce fresh vacancies and formulate an effective employment policy.  

The party protested at Azad Maidan, Panjim where Joint Convenors Samil Volvaikar and Mariano Rodrigues, Chairman Dr Jorson Fernandes and Rajendra Kakodkar, and Media Coordinator Trajano D’Mello, Ana Gracias, Dashrath Mandrekar and former MLA Victor Gonsalves along with other party workers called out the ruling government’s failure to curb the rising unemployment and highlighted the rampant corruption in the recruitment process in the State.

The speakers said that the government had failed to provide jobs to unemployed educated youths. Goa’s unemployment rate was double that of the national average rate, they said.
