PANJIM: Alleging that the BJP government is attempting to tamper with the retirement rule to promote ‘back-door entry’, the Goa Trinamool Congress Party (TMC) on Monday demanded a white paper with guidelines on the removal of ‘lethargic’ government personnel.
Highlighting the ambiguity in the retirement rule, Goa TMC Media Coordinator Trajano D’Mello said, “It’s been more than 22 years since the Goa State Civil Service (Retirement) Rules, 2000 was passed and the government has now decided to implement it to only further their political gains. The government must release a white paper elaborating on how they wish to take action against those termed ‘lethargic’.”
Trajano said that the government wants to apply the rules to the employees who have attained the age of 50-55 years and it is a backdoor strategy to make way for favoured youth and is an indirect way to bring down the retirement age from 60 to 55/50 years.
