PANJIM: Goa Trinamool Congress Party (TMC) too came out in full force to demand that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant release the names of nine suspended government officials in the public domain and asserted that the cases under the grievance cell be expedited.

Picking holes in the statement made by Sawant on the functioning of the grievance cell, TMC Joint ConvenorMariano Rodrigues said that the grievance cell is for namesake and that the Chief Minister had failed to reply to date to a letter written to him by a Margao-based NGO in April this year.

Reacting to Sawant’s assurance to the people that they could file complaints against any government official or department to the grievance cell and that the complaints received from citizens would be thoroughly investigated, Rodrigues said that the resolution time of a public grievance must be time-bound and that the Chief Minister must reply within 30 days.

Highlighting the failure of the government machinery in the State, Rodrigues said, “Chief Minister boasts of having more than 70,000 workforces in the government department yet the people of Goa are left to suffer and run from pillar to post to get their work done.

He also demanded the government to implement reservation for the OBC community students in the post-graduate courses.

Citing the findings of RTI on the rampant land grabbing cases, TMC Media Coordinator Trajano D’Mello said that it was revealed through an RTI information that six cases of land grabbing were registered in 2020, two cases in 2021 and 33 cases in 2022 under the Mapusa jurisdiction. How can the Chief Minister now claim that no action was taken against the filed cases?

Bringing to the fore the recommendations of SrinetKotwale Commission, Trajano said that the Commission was formed to investigate the SerulaComunidade land grabbing cases. But the Sawant government has failed to implement its recommendations till date.

He further alleged that in the cases pertaining to the Serula land grabbing, the needle of suspicion points towards the political tout of Porvorim and the then revenue minister.

“I can produce five survey numbers to the Chief Minister to investigate if any politician is involved.”
