MARGAO: At an awareness meeting held in Rachol recently, ST leader Govind Shirodkar claimed that the remaining constitutional rights of Scheduled Tribes communities in Goa will be settled if they are given representation in the Goa Assembly. The meeting was organised by ‘Mission Political Reservation for Scheduled Tribes of Goa’ in association with the Goan Tribal Association.
Kanta Gaude spoke about the struggle of late tribal leaders to recognize Gauda, Kunbi, and Velip communities as Scheduled Tribes.
Sarpanch Joseph Vaz also urged the community to come together and support the mission. Executive members of the mission were felicitated, as were 23 meritorious students from Rachol who had topped for the academic year 2022-23.
