PANJIM: Curlies operator Edwin Nunes is in for more trouble as the Hyderabad Police are leaving no stone unturned to ensure that he stays in their custody for a long time to unearth the inter-State gang supplying drugs through Goa, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Edwin has been named in seven cases including five under the NDPS Act. Police arrested Edwin in the case registered at the Ramgopalpet Police Station under Section 8 (c), read with 22 (b) and 27 of Narcotics Drugs Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
According to the police, Edwin is the prime accused in total seven cases registered by the police.
Besides five narcotics cases registered against him, the Anjuna Police have also booked him in the alleged murder case of BJP leader Sonali Phogat.
The police also booked him in another case wherein he produced a fake Covid-19 positive certificate to evade arrest.
According to the police, the accused who were arrested in the NDPS cases have named Edwin at every level of the case.
It all started when the alleged drug peddler Priteesh Narayan Borkar alias Babu alias Khali, who was trying to sell drugs at Habsiguda to prospective customers, was caught by the Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) along with Osmania University PS at Habsiguda, Osmania University PS limits.
Twenty Ecstasy pills, five LSD Blots, four grams of MDMA, one mobile phone handset and cash of Rs 4,000 were seized from his possession.
Back then, Pritesh in his confession admitted that to earn easy money, he developed contact with one Manzoor Ahmed, who is absconding, from Goa and together they started procuring the drugs like Ecstasy pills, LSD Blots, MDMA and charas in bulk quantity from Thukaram Salgaonkar alias Nana, Vikas Naik alias Vicky, Ramesh Chowhan, Steve, Edwin Nunes and Sanja Govekar for a less price and the same were sold to the prospective customers at a higher price.
The team Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) along with Ramgopalpet PS proceeded to Goa and with the assistance of Goa Police apprehended the absconding accused Edwin Nunes. The police have maintained that Edwin was the kingpin, who organised parties and supplied narcotic drugs through his agents at the Curlies restaurant in Anjuna.
