PONDA: A two-year-old child drowned after he accidentally fell into a stream at Causme, Nanus on August 1.
Police stated that child got down from his mother’s arms and went near the flowing water stream, leading to the unfortunate accident. The mother, identified as Sharmila Devi, was reportedly speaking on her mobile phone at the time.
Ponda Police stated that they received a call at 19:30 hrs from the Usgao Police out post regarding the drowning case and immediately rushed to the site. The police conducted an inquiry and ruled out foul play. The child’s body was later retrieved from the stream. and referred it a post-mortem examination at Hospicio Hospital in Margao.
