PONDA: A two-year-old toddler has been left orphaned after his father killed his mother for having an extramarital affair earlier this month.
Rajkishore Naik, originally from Orissa and residing at Shiroda killed his wife Rita Badkiya.
The toddler, whose luck turned gloomy at such a young age, has lost his parental love since he doesn’t have any relatives to take care of him and is being housed at Apna Ghar.
Police said that the husband strangulated his wife after an altercation leaving the two-and-half-year-old all alone. Ponda police said Rajkishore is in police custody and investigations are on.
All efforts to contact Lucky’s relatives in Orissa have gone in vain, police said. “We are planning to visit Orissa shortly to trace any relatives so that Lucky can be handed over to them for proper care,” said a police source.
Unaware that his mother has left him for good, Lucky keeps on inquiring when his mother will come to see him, leaving the wardens unable to explain to him that his father has killed his mother.
It is learnt that Rajkishore Naik and Rita Badkiya were in love and wanted to get married. They had to escape from Orissa due to objections from their families and fled to Goa and tied the knot six years back and were living a happy married life. Their joy turned into bliss when Lucky was born to them two and half years back.
