Goa Governor Sreedharan Pillai on Friday morning said that as a Governor, he had told the CM Dr Pramod Sawant to promote spiritual tourism and village tourism in Goa and showcase the various religious places to the international and domestic tourists
Pillai speaking to reporters at Verna said that Goa was a gift of God to human beings where people lived cordially lived with each other.
” Everybody is equal before the almighty in a temple and this is why Brahmin priests and Adivasi priests are sharing cordial relations and conducting Pooja’s together. This is an exceptional thing that I have seen here and I want to highlight this in my book. I congratulate the trust and committees to have maintained the temple beautifully and this can also attract a large number of tourists. I have told the CM as the governor to promote spiritual tourism and showcase various religious places, especially in villages and open it for various tourists to promote village tourism and spiritual tourism as Goa is a special gift of God to human beings and I will project it ” said Pillai
Governor Pillai also said that he was happy that Goans want to develop industries in the state
“I have visited farmlands, Fishermen areas and I am visiting the industrial areas today. I welcome the decisions, projects and policies declared yesterday by Industries minister Mauvin Godinho because besides the ministry, the Goans are equally interested in developing industries here ” said Pillai
Pillai also said that he had visited had covered around 150 villages as a part of the Village Darshan program and visited various religious places in the area.
” I will write a book that will be published and I want to highlight across India that ” Sanatana Dharma” has been affected by casteism and untouchability which is now declared a crime. I have got personal experiences at Mallikarjun temple in Canacona where for nine months, the pooja by touching the idol of the deity is done by Brahmin priests and for the other three months the same pooja is done by Adivasi priests and this has to be highlighted across India.
In a way, my experience is that Goan villages are more beautiful than any other place and have people who are good at heart and there is a possibility of development in these villages. Goa has got an ample scope to promote village and spiritual tourism ” said Pillai
