Touch-and-go ferry services at Divar

OLD GOA: A touch-and-go ferry service has been started for the people of Divar during peak hours, with the Cumbharjua’s MGP unit claiming credit for initiating the services.

Revealing this at a news conference at Divar on Friday, MGP’s Cumbarjua President Narayan Verlekar informed that after several representations to River Navigation Minister Sudin Dhavalikar, an order to this effect was issued by the River Navigation Department on October 24.
The touch-and-go services will be operational from 7 am to 9 am and 5 pm to 7 pm.
A request for a third ferry has also been made.
The minister has also been appraised on the demand for a bridge connecting Divar to the mainland, and he said that this would become a reality only if the majority of the residents of the islands of Divar and Vanxim  make a demand for it.
It was informed that the roads in Divar will be repaired by filling in the potholes by the month of February, 2015.
