SALIGAO: The villagers of Saligao and Sangolda have been assured that the work of widening roads, as a part of infrastructure development for ‘tourism circuit,’ would not affect the houses along the Chogm road.
Assuring that road widening would not affect houses along the Chogm road, Saligao MLA and RDA Minister Jayesh Salgaonkar said on Wednesday that the road project would benefit the people and the work would be taken up by Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation.
He said that he has also written to the respective panchayats assuring that the houses of the people would not be demolished for widening of the roads in Saligao and Sangolda.
“There are some politically motivated people trying to scare the people that their houses will be demolished. I have given in writing to the panchayats that I will not demolish any compound wall without the consent of the land owner unless it is necessary. If it is necessary, we will speak to the land lord or even obtain his NOC before going ahead with the works,” Jayesh said addressing reporters after laying the foundation stone for laying pavers at Sorvem Vaddo in Guirim.
“This tourism circuit will ease the flow of traffic on the Chogm road. We have the work order from the PWD to start the work of the road. The work will be completed possibly before the rains so that the people get good roads and there will be no complaints in the future,” Salgaonkar added.
