PANJIM: The Department of Tourism has decided to hold nine tourism and trade exhibitions across India and to participate in four world tourism trade fairs abroad.
The exhibitions for the current tourist season will be held at Chennai, Bengaluru, Pune, Hyderabad, Delhi, Jaipur, Vadodara, Amritsar and Varanasi. It is for the time that the Goa Tourism is trying to tap Varanasi market.
According to Goa Tourism sources, nearly 89 per cent of total tourist arrivals in the State are domestic tourists. They mostly visit during the peak season of October to December.
The department has also decided to participate in the world tourism trade fair to be held at Spain in January 2022 and at the ITB tourism trade fair in Berlin, Germany, MITT international travel and tourism trade show in Russia and the BTL international tourism exhibition in Portugal scheduled in March next year.
The department is now in the process of selecting the advertising-cum-event management agency to handle the Goa Pavilion at these exhibitions.
Meanwhile, there is no decision on granting permission to the Sunburn Electronic Dance Music (EDM) event as the file regarding the same is still lying with the Chief Minister.
The organisers of the Sunburn EDM festival had announced the dates for holding its 15th festival at Vagator beach from December 28 to 30 this year for fully vaccinated people.
However, the Deputy Chief Minister Babu Ajgaonkar had clarified that the file regarding the Sunburn EDM festival has been sent to the Chief Minister for appropriate decision.
