PANJIM: Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte on Tuesday warned the traditional shack operators not to take the government for granted with political tweaking and coming every time with different statements.
“I am with the traditional shack operators to support them with whatever they need but they cannot take the government for granted with political tweaking and coming every time with different statements. I condemn their statement. They were free to talk, if they were not participating. We are here to ensure that good tourism happens and not politics,” the Minister said.
“The shack operators were on record that for the first time, the government met eight times. Every time they come with the line they are not taken into confidence. We have taken all the inputs from them. If they had any issue, they should discuss it. The shack policy is very clear, we know that we have discussed with them and come out with the policy,” Khaunte said.
The minister said the government has a homestay policy and will also encourage hinterland tourism which will create local employment. The local communities will benefit in a big way, he said.
