MAPUSA: A tourist lady, booked for rash driving and causing injury to one person at Mapusa, was lodged at Institute of Psychiatric and Human Behaviour (IPHB) at Bambolim.
According to police, at around 1.45 pm, a woman driving a car traveling towards Mapusa via Ektanagar, upon reaching Khorlim, hit a two-wheeler injuring a man. Subsequently she further dashed against two bikes which were parked along the roadside.
Later the lady drove recklessly towards the Gandhi Circle when some people chased her and stopped her by blocking her car with their bikes. The lady, however, hit the two bikes and then stopped her car.
An angry mob smashed the car on the spot. After being informed of the accident, Mapusa Police rushed to the spot and detained the woman and brought her to the police station. The car was also seized. The car was having logo of a doctor on the front glass.
Mapusa Police have booked her for driving negligently and dashing against the vehicles.
After a medical examination the police admitted her to the IPHB as she was suspected to be ‘mentally unsound’. The injured two-wheeler rider is undergoing treatment at hospital.
