CALANGUTE: Two tourists from Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, were allegedly assaulted and cheated by touts at a pub in Baga. The incident occurred on Tuesday, and two individuals, Santosh Chavan from Solapur and Pruthvi Patole from Calangute, have been arrested in connection with the case.
According to the tourists, who had come to Goa for a holiday, the accused touts lured them to a pub in Baga, ‘offering’ them Russian girls and other attractions. However, when the tourists refused their services, the touts reportedly assaulted them and forced them to transfer Rs 30,000 from their accounts.
The tourists were allegedly confined in a closed room where they were beaten until they provided the touts with their pin numbers and passwords to their mobiles and GPay App, and forcibly transferred the money. After a complaint was
filed, Calangute police intervened, and, with the assistance of
some media persons, managed to trace the accused and recover the stolen amount.
