VASCO: In order to provide relief to the passengers coming down to the Dabolim Airport, the Airport Taxi Union and the Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTCL) besides the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) jointly pressed their service to transport tourists from the airport. While the KTC had kept over dozen buses at the airport, the yellow and black tourist taxis too were made available to the passengers right from the first flight arriving at the Dabolim airport on Tuesday morning.
Although the airport taxi operators under the banner of United Taximen Union (UTU) had supported the strike called by All Goa Tourist Taxi Owners’ Association (AGTTOA) and South Goa Tourist Taxi Owners’ Association (SGTTOA), on Tuesday morning, the UTU members decided to resume their operations.
“We were not on strike on Monday. We had only extended our support to AGTTTOA and SGTTOA. However, as we had nothing to do with their demands, we decided to resume our operations from Tuesday morning so that the passengers are not put into unnecessary inconvenience,” said UTU President Sudhakar Revankar.
“Since it is our duty to pick up the passengers and drop them to their destinations, we all performed our duties without any fear,” he added.
