PERNEM: A group of Russian tourists, presently residing along Pernem beach belt, carried out a cleanliness drive on Arambol beach on Friday.
Kim Jade, Caroline and few more Russian tourists launched this campaign and collected more than two tonnes of waste and beer bottles from Arambol beach. The collected waste was disposed off by the Arambol panchayat.
Kim said, “We love Arambol, the shore, the hills and local citizens who are very friendly and cooperated in initiating this campaign. In beach belt, we found many tourists who are nature lovers as well as animal lovers who have helped us in this work.”
Arambol Sarpanch Innacio D’Souza appreciated work of the foreign tourists.
“The Arambol Panchayat and Waste Management Committee are trying to maintain cleanliness in the village. For many years the Arambol panchayat is facing the garbage problem. However, the panchayat is taking measures to solve the problem. We appreciate the work undertaken by this group of foreigners,” D’Souza said.
