MAPUSA: Ports Minister Michael Lobo on Tuesday informed that he will discuss with the Chief Minister about reopening of the tourism industry and allowing only those tourists who have taken both the doses of COVID vaccine or having RT PCR test certificate, into the State.
“I will speak to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and suggest him on re-opening of the tourism industry. For tourists, who travel into the State through flight, road or any other mode compulsory should have taken both the doses of COVID vaccine or having valid RT PCR test certificate once the tourism industry opens because still positive cases and deaths are reported,” Lobo said.
“The State government will decide when to open the tourism industry following all the protocols and after consulting the stakeholders, Travel and Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG), Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) and others,” said Lobo.
“Slowly tourists will begin coming into the State. Hotels, guest houses, restaurants, other tourism dependent business are closed and people who are directly and indirectly depend on the tourism industry are badly affected,” added Lobo.
Lobo was speaking to the media persons at the Saligao Waste Treatment Plant during distribution of organic manure produced at the plant to the farmers from Calangute Constituency.
