Tourists throng Goa to usher in New Year

Notwithstanding fears of terror strikes, hundreds of thousands of tourists ushered New Year on Goas’ beaches with parties being hosted past midnight in the State.
The roads leading to the coastal destinations were jammed since afternoon. The bumper to bumper traffic was witnessed in the Baga-Calangute-Candolim beach belt. Not just the coastal belt but the capital city too saw heavy traffic flow since evening.
It is estimated that around 75,000 tourists have descended in Goa to welcome the year 2011.
