VASCO: The local fishermen from the port town took a visit from Minister of Fisheries Nilkanth Halarnkar and Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar and presented them with an appeal listing their problems and demands. MLA Amonkar requested Halarnkar to solve fishermen’s problems on priority. Vasco MLA Daji Salkar was also present.
The Minister visited Mormugao taluka and met the fishing community and inspected the fishing area in Katem-Baina, as part of ‘Mantri Tumchya Dari’ initiative of the government.
Some of the demands in the list were to build a ramp on the shore and a loading point, to erect a shed to repair nets, to regularise houses of fisherfolk community and to also keep watch on the sewage water being discharged at Baina beach.
