MARGAO: Traffic Cell Margao launched a special drive to ensure proper implementation of traffic rules as demanded by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and booked two drunken driving cases. Traffic personnel were posted at the hazardous spots identified as accident prone spots in Margao which are Tata Showroom to Old Market road and Jakniband in Navelim where maximum fatalities are recorded. Traffic police were seen at various other places fining people for driving motorcycles without helmets and many such cases are recorded which were yet to be tabulated.
Besides, the Traffic Cell conducted an awareness programme for around 42 employees of Bosch factory at Verna Industrial Estate where the workers were given knowledge of precautionary measures necessary to avoid accidents. Such awareness programmes will be held at other places too while the drive to enforce traffic rules will also continue said the officials.
