Traffic chaos at Porvorim due to bridge construction highlighted

Rohan Khaunte suggests keeping road passage near Sai Service circle open; Students, senior citizens, residents of societies in the vicinity troubled due to closure of major road

PANJIM: The massive traffic chaos and inconvenience particularly to the residents of Porvorim due to the ongoing construction of the third Mandovi Bridge was highlighted during the Budget session of the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday.
Independent legislator Rohan Khaunte, representing the Porvorim constituency where a major portion of the work is being carried out, urged the government to keep the road passage open near Sai Service circle.
“The GSIDC should open the road stretch for people residing in the colonies nearby, students and senior citizens. It becomes easier for them to cross the road and reach the other end. With its closure, a commuter has to take a much longer route,” he told the House while also suggesting to the government to add more ferries.
