PONDA: The local residents of Bethora-Nirankal are facing severe hardships as the roads dug up for laying power cables haven’t been restored and have turned into a death trap for motorists.
The work on restoring the roads pending for long and the possibility of repairing them seems remote on account of rains. In the meanwhile, the situation for commuters is turning grim as these trenches are growing in size with each passing day. Coupled with potholes, negotiating the roads in the village has become a risky proposition for the motorists, especially two-wheeler riders.
Locals said that excavated roads should have been repaired by laying rubbles and asphalting it. However, these have been covered with loose soil, due to which the vehicles are getting stuck on the side of the road shoulders. The heavy rains are making matters worse.
