PANJIM: In view of the Shigmotsav float parade scheduled in Panjim on Saturday, the Traffic Department has released a detailed plan on traffic diversion and parking arrangement which will come into force on March 26, from 1 pm.
As per the plan, no vehicle will be allowed to park on the route of float parade from 12 noon, i.e, from Kala Academy Campal–Caculo Island–18th June Road–Rua Cunha Rivara Road (Municipal Garden)–M G Road and Azad Maidan. The traffic entering into Panjim city will follow the normal route.
Traffic coming from behind Old Secretariat on reaching near Match Corner will not be allowed to proceed to M G Road and will be diverted towards Abade de Faria statue to proceed via DBB Marg whereas traffic coming from Altinho and desiring to proceed to KTC–Ponda–Margao will be diverted via Corte–de–Oiteiro.
The department said that traffic from Taleigao–Fire Service, desiring to proceed to Panjim Market–KTC Bus stand will be diverted at St Inez Junction via Kala Academy to precede through DBB Marg.
Spectators attending to witness the float parade will be allowed parking at Football Ground, Campal and around Municipal Garden, Panjim. All the by-lanes connecting 18th June Road will be closed for vehicular traffic.
The police have requested the motorists not to park vehicles on the float route from 12 noon on the parade day only and co-operate with Traffic Police.
