Traffic police announce diversions for vehicular traffic, road closures for hassle-free Carnival festivities

PANJIM: The Panjim Traffic Police has notified detours for vehicular traffic in view of Carnival floats parade in the city on February 18.

The floats will gather and will be lined up on the Ribandar causeway and thereafter proceed from Divja Circle to the starting point of the parade, near the Old Secretariat building. The parade will start at 3 pm, move down Dayanand Bandodkar Road and culminate at Kala Academy, Campal, and all floats thereafter will be parked at the Bandodkar football ground, Campal-Panjim.

For smooth movement of vehicular traffic during the event, the Traffic Police have made certain traffic arrangements.

As far as parking zones are concerned, spectators coming from North Goa will have to park their vehicles at EDC Patto Plaza, the Multi Level Car Park and near KTC bus stand.

All vehicles coming from South Goa are advised to take the road via GMC- Goa University – NIO Circle – Miramar Circle – and then park at the DB Football Ground.

Jose Falcao road, Joao Crasto Road, Match Corner to Casa International (M.G. road), Caculo Island to St. Inez junction and Church square to Cortin foot bridge have been notified as no parking zones.

Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Bossuet Silva said, “We will try our best to make sure we manage traffic in Panjim during the Carnival celebrations. If the need arises, we will open the one-way roads for traffic,” he said, adding that the Carnival Committee decides the route for the parade.
