MARGAO: Nuvem MLA Wilfred D’Sa said that the western bypass road at Nuvem will be illuminated and traffic signals will be installed at major four traffic junctions.
The MLA along with the Traffic Cell and other officials inspected the site on Wednesday.
Speaking to the media persons after the inspection, the MLA said that the work pertaining to the installation of traffic signals will start in the next few days.
“The project of installing traffic signals was pending for some time. We have proposed to install the traffic signals at the time when work of western bypass was initiated. The provisions of traffic signals, besides illumination of the road, have already been mentioned in the contract,” Wilfred said.
He further said that there are altogether four traffic signals that have been proposed on the said highway, which include at Verna, Gonvlloi, Honda Showroom and Rumdoi, Nuvem.
“Many accidents have been reported on this western bypass road at Nuvem, besides, the people are facing lots of difficulties while crossing the road over here,” the MLA said.
Wilfred hopes that these traffic signals will reduce the accidents on the road.
