BICHOLIM: Following the controversy over the Shivaji Maharaj statue at Bicholim Circle, the Bicholim MLA and Speaker Rajesh Patnekar informed that he is proposing to install traffic signals at the place.
Speaking to Herald, after a news report of a person met with an accident at the Shantadurga School circle, Patnekar said, “I regretted over the incident.”
“No one has any objection to the statue but if there are any issues related to traffic we have now tried to resolve them,” he added.
As per the Speaker, he has convened a special meeting next week along with the police, Bicholim Municipal Council, traffic cell and others to stress upon the need for traffic signals.
“We need traffic signals on all the four roads so that the circle could be safe for the commuters,” he said.
Speaking about the development, Patnekar said that most of the works are kept pending because of COVID-19 lockdown and all the works including beautification from Walshi to Bicholim, construction of fire station and the primary building would be taken up.
