Tragic Accident in Dharbandora Claims One Life, Leaves Several Injured

Panjim: In a tragic incident, a tourist bus en route to Hyderabad from Telangana met with a catastrophic accident at Durgini, Dharbandora, on Monday, resulting in one fatality and numerous injuries. A woman passenger remains in critical condition.

The accident, which occurred at approximately 5:30 pm, saw the bus overturn and plunge into a roadside ravine. The driver of the bus tragically lost his life on the spot.

Upon hearing the cries for help from the injured passengers, Collem police swiftly responded, deploying ambulances and paramedics to the scene. A total of 26 injured passengers received initial treatment at the Dharbandora Public Health Centre, with nine individuals who sustained severe injuries subsequently transferred to the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Bambolim.

The patients admitted to GMCH presented various injuries, including head trauma and fractures of the limbs and other bones. Additional passengers are reportedly receiving treatment at the Sub-District Hospital in Ponda.

The bus, which was covering a considerable distance, is suspected to have had three drivers on board. Authorities are investigating the possibility that the driver at the wheel was under the influence of alcohol, contributing to the tragic accident. The majority of passengers hailed from Telangana, with only a few originating from Goa.

Collem police have since conducted a panchanama and are actively pursuing further investigations into the accident.
