In a devastating incident on Wednesday night, a private bus collided head-on with a dumper truck on the Guna-Aaron road, resulting in a fatal blaze that claimed at least 12 lives and left 14 others with severe burn injuries, as confirmed by local authorities.
The ill-fated bus, en route to Aaron, collided with the dumper truck bound for Guna at approximately 9 pm. According to police reports, the collision led to a fiery inferno, with around 30 passengers on board at the time. Fortunately, four individuals managed to escape the blazing bus and have since returned home.
The victims, unfortunately, suffered such extensive burns that their bodies are beyond recognition. To ascertain their identities, authorities have initiated DNA tests.
Guna District Hospital promptly received the injured for immediate medical attention, with an ongoing investigation led by Guna collector Tarun Rathi to unravel the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
Expressing his deep condolences, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced an assistance package of Rs 4 lakh each for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each for those injured in the accident. The administration is actively involved in the investigation, seeking to provide answers to the grieving community in Guna.
