Tragic Collision at Arpora Junction Claims Lives of Three Tourists

In a devastating incident at Arpora junction, a fatal collision took place between two four-wheelers, resulting in the loss of three lives. The incident unfolded around 3:30 am on a Saturday near 23 Restaurant, Arpora.

As per eyewitness accounts, a group of tourists identified as Mahesh Sharma from Nasik, Maharashtra, Dilipkumar Bang, and Manojkumar Soni from Hyderabad, were in the process of entering their XUV 700 car. At that moment, a red Polo car, travelling at high speed from Anjuna towards Calangute, collided with the tourists who were about to enter their vehicle.

The impact of the collision sent the Polo car and its driver, Anton Bychkov, a 27-year-old Russian national, into a nullah on the left side of the road. The tourists and the Polo car driver suffered serious injuries in the tragic incident.

Immediate action was taken, and the injured were swiftly transported to District Hospital Mapusa. Unfortunately, despite medical efforts, Mahesh Sharma, Dilipkumar Bang, and Manojkumar Soni succumbed to their injuries and were declared dead at District Hospital Mapusa. Anton Bychkov, the driver of the Polo car, is currently undergoing medical treatment at GMC Bambolim.

Statements from survivors, including the driver and a friend of the tourists, have been recorded to piece together the sequence of events leading to the collision.

The post-mortem examination of the deceased is underway at GMC Bambolim, and legal actions will be taken in accordance with the law against the accused driver involved in the tragic incident.
