Tragedy struck in Assam’s Dergaon as a devastating collision between a bus and a truck claimed the lives of at least 14 individuals, leaving 27 others with severe injuries. The incident occurred on Wednesday around 5 am when a bus, en route to Tinsukia’s Tilinga Mandir with 45 passengers, collided head-on with a coal-laden truck from Margherita.
According to authorities, the ill-fated journey of the picnic party began at 3 am, and as they neared their destination, the fatal collision occurred. Prompt response from the police led to the rescue of injured passengers, who were subsequently rushed to Jorhat Medical College for medical attention. Unfortunately, several of the injured individuals are reported to be in critical condition.
At the crash site, the bodies of the 14 passengers who tragically lost their lives were recovered and sent for post-mortem examinations. Police have initiated an investigation into the incident, seeking to determine the circumstances surrounding the collision.
