In the early hours of Friday morning at approximately 1 am, a tragic accident took place on the Gudi Chichinim road. The incident involved a car, driven by Shelton Furtado from Orlim. Furtado, travelling from the Gudi direction, collided with stray cattle on the road before subsequently colliding with two oncoming scooters.
One scooter was carrying Agnel Rebello (19 years old) and Mecloid Rebello aged 17, while Abner Pereira rode the other (21 years old), both scooters were coming from coming from Chinchinim. Agnel Rebello succumbed to injuries sustained in the accident and was pronounced deceased at GMC Bambolim.
Tragically, the collision also resulted in the death of the stray cattle near the accident spot. Further details regarding the specific allocation of riders to the respective vehicles are pending as the investigation progresses.
The police urged both drivers and riders to prioritize caution and responsible driving. Emphasizing safety measures, authorities encouraged drivers to fasten seatbelts while urging riders to wear helmets. Additionally, they advocated for maintaining slower speeds as a precautionary measure
