VASCO: Traffic on the National Highway 17 B, connecting Verna to MPT via Dabolim Airport was disrupted for few hours on Wednesday evening after a speeding chemical-laden trailer overturned and fell on its side near the Vales junction. The ill-fated trailer blocked the road leading to Verna from Vasco and all the vehicles proceeding to Verna were made to ply in the single lane, until the trailer was removed.
Police informed that the incident occurred at about 9.15 pm when the driver lost control over the trailer near the turn at Vales junction. The trailer first dashed against an electric pole in the road median and then fell on its side of the road leading to Verna. Police said that the driver and cleaner reportedly sustained injuries and were shifted to a hospital.
Meanwhile, due to the accident the chemicals (cosmetic oil) spilled all along the road turning it slippery. The police summoned Vasco fire station personnel who used two fire tenders to wash out the chemical. Vasco police is further investigating the case.
